Thomas Griffith Jones, son of Griffith Jones and Annie — was born in Radnor county, South Wales, and baptized May 8, 1778, in the Parish church, Dolan, South Wales. He became a minister of the gospel at the age of seventeen and preached with all the thrilling eloquence for which the Welch are noted. He was regarded by the church at Dolan as a young man possessing gifts and talents that would make him eminently distinguished. He sailed for the United States in 1800.
