Interview with Mrs. Jackie Falbo at her residence on January 13, 2007 by Pat Ezell and Pat Castanon

She has in her possession original documents belonging to Dr. Theodore Heermann and his family. Many were examined and notes taken on their contents. The following information was taken from those original documents.

The following information was taken from a notarized document signed by Felipa Heermann, Felix Heermann, Lillie H. Meyers, and George D. Meyers and dated January 1935.

Theodore Heermann was born 25 Dec 1823 in Baltimore, Maryland. He died 6 April 1896 in Bexar Co., TX. His wife, Felipa Flores, was born 10 January 1855 in Bexar Co. [The year should be 1856 according to her baptismal certificate].

Her parents were Felix Flores [who may have come to Bexar Co. from Mexico with an adopted family] and Hilde Parkins [who may have born in Ireland. ] [Hilde and Felix had four daughters. Felipa was the youngest].

Their son, Felix, was born 15 Nov 1870 in Bexar County [as verified by his baptismal certificate]. Their second son, Alfred, was born 19 February 1873 in Bexar County. Felix married Nancy Dean Kuykendall in Bexar Co. 20 November 1889. Nancy Dean died12 April 1909 intestate with three children: Evelyn (who married Bryan C. Mauermann); Rosa (wife of L.C. Justilien);  Effie (married Otto Giese, Jr).  All lived in San Antonio [as of 1935].

Alfred married Ada Lanning, a widow, nee Kuykendall [Nancy Dean’s sister]. [No date given for marriage]. Alfred died 26 November 1909 and Ada died 5 September 1925 intestate. Alfred and Ada had one child, a daughter named Lillie, who was the wife of George D. Meyers (as of 1935) and lived in San Antonio. Lillie’s first husband was Hugh Dixon of Atascosa County, TX. They were divorced in Bexar Co. She then married Mr. Meyers in Kendall Co., TX. Ada was born in Nebraska. George Meyers was born inVictoria, TX 17 October 1898.

Theodore was a county commissioner of Precinct #1, Bexar County (no dates given).

Baptismal certificate for Felix Heermann 19 March 1871. He was born 15 November 1870. Padrinos were Blas Herrera and Maria Antonia Ruiz. Padre was Julio Sayet.

 

Original letter from Von Ormy Postmaster to Felix Heermann:

On September 30, 1905 Postmaster B. Bywater wrote a letter to Felix Heermann, R.R. No. 1 advising him to immediately inscribe the No. 14 on his mailbox.

Original document dated 12 October 1861 naming Theodore Heermann as a captain of Medina Guards, part of the 30th Brigade Texas Militia.

Original document: Muster Roll of Captain Silas L. Stanfield’s Company of Militia formed from Precincts No. 6 and 9, Bexar County, Texas for the month of March 1862. The following are some of the names relating to the Heermann and Herrera families:

#25 – Josiah Cass – field and home duty – one horse

#48 – Theodore Heermann – field and home duty; one horse, one gun, two rifles, two revolvers

#54 – Benito Herrera – field and home duty; no horse or weapons

#55 – Blas Herrera, Jr. – field and home duty; one horse; one revolver

#56 – Juan Jose Herrera – field and home duty; one horse; one rifle; one revolver 

The Muster roll was certified as correct by Theodore Heermann, enrolling officer for Precincts 6 and 9, Bexar Co.

San Fernando Cathedral Baptismal certificate for Felipa Flores:

Born 10 January 1856

Baptized 16 February 1856 by Rev. Dubuis. Sponsors or godparents were Antonio Rodriguez and Rafaela Flores de Rodriguez.

Theodore Heermann’s 1891 checkbook stubs from Frost Bank showed notations for purchase of seed cotton and for boiler engine and lumber from Beitel Lumber Co.

Jackie Falbo stated her mother, Norma Dean Mauermann Edwards, was born 18 March 1913 at 234 Johnson in King William. Other information Mrs. Falbo verbally shared was that Theodore’s father, Lewis Heermann, was a physician in the Navy. In addition to Theodore and Adolphus, there was another son, Valentine.
