The 1st picture is the original stage stop, post office, general store and residence of Max Aue until he married and build the dog-run house (5th pic).  This is the same building that became part of the Settlement Inn restaurant operated by Steve Spence.

In the 2nd photo you can see how the Settlement Inn Restaurant operated out of the original stage stop building, ice house and the yard with picnic tables.  Later the Aue’s built the 2-story hotel (in 1879) that the family eventually moved into…it also served as the school when the old wood schoolhouse burned.

In the 4th photo you see what was the old “ice house” that Spence moved from near the RR tracks.

The bottom picture shows members of the Duerler family at the Aue station. That photo was given to Marlene Richardson by Ellie Lamb (curator of Ursuline Academy and Herff/Duerler descendant).
